Lenz & Staehelin represents Mastercard in the Competition Commission investigation on interchange fees

On June 29, 2023, the Swiss Competition Commission ("ComCo") opened an investigation into Mastercard's domestic interchange fees for its debit cards. ComCo and Mastercard had previously agreed on an interchange fee level for the market launch phase of Debit Mastercard. Now that the market launch for Debit Mastercard was successful, Mastercard intends to find a long-term solution with ComCo for its debit cards.
